Authenticity Policy
This policy applies to all items listed over $500 on Peddly.
⚠️ Buyer Advisory — Items Over $500
Peddly does not independently authenticate high-value items. Before purchasing any item listed over $500, we strongly recommend:
- •Request additional photos including serial numbers, model numbers, or original receipts directly from the seller via messages.
- •Only purchase high-value items from sellers with a 100 trust score and verified identity (shown on their profile).
- •Research the item thoroughly — cross-reference serial numbers, check manufacturer databases, and ask detailed questions.
- •If something feels off, do not purchase. Your instinct is valid.
Seller Obligations for High-Value Items
Accurate representation
All listings must accurately describe the item's condition, authenticity, and provenance. Misrepresentation is grounds for permanent account termination.
Proof of ownership
Sellers of items over $500 are expected to be able to provide receipts, certificates of authenticity, or other proof of legitimate ownership upon request.
Counterfeit items
Listing counterfeit, replica, or fraudulently described items results in immediate permanent ban and full refund to the buyer from the seller's payment method. Law enforcement will be contacted for confirmed stolen goods.
Identity Verification Requirement
Sellers must have a verified identity (government ID via Stripe) to list or sell items over $500. Buyers must also have verified identity to purchase items over $500. This requirement exists to protect both parties and ensure accountability on high-value transactions.
Consequences for Violation
- →Permanent account ban — no appeal
- →Full refund to buyer from seller's connected payment account
- →Negative trust score impact visible on profile
- →Law enforcement referral for confirmed stolen or fraudulent goods
- →Peddly reserves the right to pursue civil remedies for fraud
